Cover Reveal for Daughters of Shadow and Blood – Book I: Yasamin

Daughers of Shadow and Blood - Book I: Yasamin Here it is! Finally! The cover to Daughters of Shadow and Blood – Book I: Yasamin. I couldn’t be happier with the finished product. I had in mind a general idea of what I wanted when I started putting together the cover. I knew I wanted to feature Yasamin, Dracula’s first Bride. After all, the book is about her.

When I was looking for images to use I stumbled upon this one almost immediately, and it captivated me. I kept looking, thinking surely I couldn’t get that lucky right off the bat, but I couldn’t get away from it. This is Yasamin. Not only does she have the right features–the dark eyes, the dark hair, the olive complexion, but her expression is perfect. It’s just the proper mixture of mystery and menace.

The mosque in the background is suggestive of the setting of much of the novel, the Ottoman Empire at the turn of the seventeenth century, and I think the typeface also helps to convey that historical setting.

Daughters of Shadow and Blood – Book I: Yasamin will be availaibe May 3, 2015! Check out the “Books” page for more!
