Because Monday is already taken. This column will feature music I listen to when I write, or maybe sometimes music I just like (and therefore think everyone else should, too).
Merry Christmas! I know I post this one every year, but this is such a stunningly beautiful recording, I can’t help it:
Alison Krauss‘ amazing voice carries this carol, “The Wexford Carol,” an Irish carol that dates from the twelfth century. Yes, it’s 900 years old. The accompaniment, as spare as it is, only adds to the mystery and wonder of this song, and includes none other than Yo-Yo Ma on cello, Natalie MacMaster on fiddle, and Cristina Pato on Galician bagpipes.
