Music Thursday: Pentatonix “Carol of the Bells”

Because Monday is already taken. This column will feature music I listen to when I write, or maybe sometimes music I just like (and therefore think everyone else should, too).

My favorite Christmas carol of all time is “Carol of the Bells.” It was composed by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych, who based it on a traditional Ukrainian folk chant that has origins pre-Christian celebrations of the New Year. The English Lyrics were written by composer Peter Wilhousky in the 1930s. This a cappella version blew me away:

Pentatonix is a five-member a cappella singing group from Arlington, TX. And for you music nerds out there, yes they do end the song with a Picardy third.
