Music Thursday: Azam Ali “Dandini”

Because Monday is already taken. This column will feature music I listen to when I write, or maybe sometimes music I just like (and therefore think everyone else should, too).

I’m currently writing another short story set in Istanbul, and this song is perfect for it. There is an undercurrent of tension and even longing.

“Dandini” is a Turkish lullaby. It’s difficult to translate as many of the words are nonsense words in Turkish, but I love Azam Ali’s voice. It’s haunting and otherworldly, and it lingers, like a ghost.
