Music Thursday: Enya “Caribbean Blue”

Because Monday is already taken. This column will feature music I listen to when I write, or maybe sometimes music I just like (and therefore think everyone else should, too).

I enjoy watching the video to this song because it’s so full of wonderment and imagination. The images in the video are one take on the lyrics, but really they could mean anything. The words are secondary to the melody and the harmony. I’ve often used “Caribbean Blue” as a creative catalyst.

And for those of you who think Enya is just a little too New-Agey, remember this song did reach Number 13 on the Billboard Top 100 in 1991. (And also, shut up. She is not.)
