Because Monday is already taken. This column will feature music I listen to when I write, or maybe sometimes music I just like (and therefore think everyone else should, too).
And now for something completely different. Most of what I write can be classified as urban fantasy or historical fantasy, or even historical urban fantasy, but my “voice” as a writer tends to be a more reserved, even literary voice. I do have a series of stories, though, where my voice as well as the language I use are far grittier. The stories are set in a magical Los Angeles with werewolf street gangs, hipster vampires, demonic hit men, and haunted cocktail bars. “Any Other Way,” found in The Big Bad, is the first one. This is one of the songs that puts me in the mood when I’m writing those stories.
The group is Bitter:Sweet, a Los-Angeles-based trip-hop duo.
